A Walk Round The Churchyard

005 (2)

The first Folkestone 52 Hour film Challenge was in April 2015.

The rules were

  • 52 hours to write, film and edit a short film.
  • A flask to be used as prop
  • Someone receiving a message as an action
  • The line ‘the truth is hard to swallow’ incorporated

We quickly drew up some very loose storyboards for a rough idea and then, one grey, drizzly Saturday morning, me and the boy mucked about in St. Eanswythe’s churchyard for a few hours. Inspired by naff Hammer films and BBC Ghost Stories for Christmas from the 70’s, we attempted to create an atmosphere of eldritch mystery and unspeakable horror using only a little Toshiba Camileo (and a lot of editing out of giggles).

The next morning, a few extra bits were filmed after a frantic search for ‘that mask’, then several hours of editing later using a basic version of Windows movie maker, the finished item was born.

Realising we hadn’t recorded any useful dialogue or sounds, we used some music which had been previously recorded a while back, called ‘Falling’

So now, without further ado…A Walk Round The Churchyard (Rating 18)
