Inspiration

The second 52 hour film challenge was in November 2015

Again, the idea to write, film and edit a short movie all within 52 hours.

This time, the three rules were

  • Prop – a blanket
  • Line of dialogue ”Can you do me a favour?’
  • Action to perform – a box is opened

(These are important to note, or the end just doesn’t make any sense!)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the star of the film from the earlier challenge was unable to fully support of the day, so a drastic re-write was called for. It was during the attempts to think of something else to do (and very nearly not bothering) that the idea came for the finished film.

All filmed on the Sunday morning with the tea making sequence being the first to be finished, taking a surprisingly long time complete.

Thankfully interest was raised amongst the team to enable the introduction of the quite stunning special effect (interest generated by the sound of 9 takes of the ‘leaning back’ sequence!), followed by a sustained exercise in structured schizophrenia.

(Thanks to Francis Ford Coppola, Val Kilmer, Mr. D and Richard Strauss for their inspiration)
